Seeds
Cultivating the Future: Seeds and the Dawn of EcoArt
In the sun-drenched halls of the Aranciera di San Sisto, a botanical gem in the heart of Rome, a new movement took root. Seeds served as the landmark inaugural exhibition for theEcoArt Project platform, marking the first physical manifestation of a community dedicated to bridging high-concept aesthetics with environmental ethics.Launched in 2010, the showcase was more than a gallery event; it was a formal debut for "Green-Art"—artistic production inspired by the urgent necessity of global sustainability. By placing contemporary works within a historic Roman orangery, Fortunato Productions curated a space where the botanical and the sculptural entered into a vital, living dialogue.
From Concept to Conscience
Seeds presented the results of the Contemporary EcoArt Contest 09, turning the spotlight on a new generation of artists researching eco-sustainability. The exhibition functioned as a creative laboratory, exploring how art can act as a catalyst for urban and social renewal.
By aligning with American Academy in Rome Fellows Robert Hammond and Lisa Bielawa, the project successfully synthesized the intimate experience of a gallery show with the larger-scale mission of reclaiming Rome's historic and natural spaces. Seeds was not just an end point for a competition, but the beginning of a decade-long journey to prove that creativity is the most fertile ground for a sustainable future.
